The pendulum swing of dental knowledge and therapeutics in the last few years has revised the endodontic service mix far beyond the simple mechanics of technique. Bio-minimalism in access design, canal preparation and debridement procedures, innovations in obturation materials, pulpal regenerative therapies, treatment of trauma and idiopathic resorption as well as passive rehabilitation technologies have renewed the foundational pillar that is endodontics. These trends and transitions resonate profoundly in the ethos of Next Level Endodontics.
This unique 4-day program has been designed by Dr. Martin Trope and the NLE faculty for the practitioner who seeks to provide his or her patients with long term predictable clinical success. The course content is derived from the most current biologic knowledge and the clinical application of this science. This course is for those who wish to make the myriad facets of the endodontic service mix a cornerstone of their practice.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
4-Day Course Overview
This intensive and interactive course is designed for the clinician who wishes to perform his or her endodontic treatments with predictable clinical success and without undue complications. It covers all current biological concepts for positive endodontic treatment outcomes. The technical aspects of this endodontic course are covered by hands-on and live demonstrations. A variety of instruments and techniques are discussed and demonstrated with videography using the dental microscope. The paramount aim of the course is to enable the participant to perform the full scope of endodontic procedures and to understand endodontic biologic principles in order to evaluate new instruments and techniques and to evolve along with the revolutionary and evolutionary changes in the discipline. This course includes a half-day presentation by Dr. Alan Atlas entitled Complications, Failures and Solutions:The Reconstruction and Esthetic Restoration of the Endodontically Treated Tooth.
Attendees are asked to bring 20 extracted teeth with half of them accessed for endodontic treatment.
- Biologic foundation of endodontics; the biologic science behind predictable success
- Access; the pendulum swings from Schilderian to “ninja” access reflect the need to redress our understanding of the discovery of the labyrinthine complexity of the root canal system. MicroCT images and cbCT planar geometrical orientation have made access a restorative driven application. An evidence based understanding of “as small as necessary” will ensure not only access to the root canal system, but prevent unnecessary dentinal girth removal and the prevention of inadvertent structural collapse
- Fundamentals of the dental operating microscope; endodontic and restorative application will be addressed, demonstrated and provide the attendee with an appreciation of the incorporation of this important adjunct to any and all treatment
- Hands-on instruction – the class size is small to ensure personalized training.
- Live patient demonstration showcasing essential aseptic techniques that ensure optimal disinfection and debridement and minimize contamination during the treatment procedure
- Anesthesia for the endodontic patient; pain control is the sine qua non of treatment; whether it be a routine case or a “hot” tooth, pain control is essential to patient compliance and management
- Principles, instruments and techniques for synchronized, hydraulic root canal obturation; bioceramics are rapidly becoming the obturation standard
- Hands-on instruction
- Live patient demonstration
- Working length determination; an appreciation of the apical third and the location of the ideal apical terminus of the obturation medium
- Principles of nickel titanium instrumentation; the understanding of size and taper is integral to the prevention of procedural misadventure. Dr. Trope and the NLE faculty understand that “single file techniques” do not reflect the reality of the myriad facets of the inner space of teeth – the philosophy that is essential is one that understands how apical size scientifically validates success and the concept of taper can be applied without abuse of the root structure

Complications, Failures and Solutions: The Reconstruction and Esthetic Restoration of the Endodontically Treated Tooth
Procedures and techniques for esthetic and functional success with high strength ceramics and CAD/CAM technology will be reviewed and demonstrated with the Dental Microscope HD Video, based on the most current scientific evidence, to assess what factors most influence the clinical outcomes for tooth and implant supported restorations. The hands-on workshop will cover the spectrum of treatment options for the restoration of the endodontically treated tooth.
Program Details for the half-day restorative component:
- Describe and utilize rational treatment planning concepts for anterior and posterior indirect esthetic restorations.
- Describe step by step preparation techniques demonstrated with the Dental Microscope using specific diamonds for perfect finish lines for all ceramic crowns, veneers, inlays and onlays.
- Describe scientific and clinical distinctions between glass based Lithium Disilicate ceramics and oxide based Zirconia systems (monolithic vs. substrate with veneered ceramic) with specific esthetic indications for each on tooth or implant supported restorations.
- Describe cementation criteria and techniques for each prosthetic substrate Metal, Leucite Ceramic, Lithium Disilicate and Zirconia on tooth and implant abutments.
- Describe clinical and material contributory factors of failed endodontically treated restorations and fundamental concepts that establish successful outcomes.
- Describe scientific based indications and treatment planning strategies for selection and placement of post systems, luting cements and core materials.
- Treatment of post endodontic disease:treatment planning, instruments and techniques.
- Retreatment versus endodontic surgery.
- Individual case discussion.
- Discuss the biologic basics of endodontics
- Implement minimally acceptable access and taper.
- Utilize XP Endo shapers and finishers for anatomical instrumentation.
- Define the fundamentals of the dental operating microscope.
- Summarize anesthesia and pain control for the endodontic patient.
- Assess principles, instruments and techniques for synchronized, hydraulic, bioceramic obturation.
- Evaluate working length determination.
- Use principles of nickel titanium instrumentation.
- Improve post-treatment planning.
- Compare retreatment options versus endodontic surgery.
Continental breakfast, breaks and lunch are included every day.
Terms and Conditions:The fee for the course is $6,000. A deposit of $2,500 reserves the space. The remaining balance will be due on the first day of the course. If the course is cancelled by the registrant six weeks or more before the start date, the deposit minus a $200 administrative fee will be refunded. If the course is cancelled by the registrant with fewer than six weeks before the start date, the deposit is non-refundable. However, $1,000 of the deposit can be credited towards a future course.
